Oneonta, NY  - The new year's first swimming and diving meet for the SUNY Oneonta men began with a competition at home against the Brockport Golden Eagles this afternoon.  The Red Dragon men secured nine individual first place finishes in coming out on top 161-133.

Right out of the gate, the 200 yard medley relay foursome of seniors Greg Fotherhill and Conor Kelly (Staten Island/Saint Peter's), junior Zeke Brynin (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) and freshman Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy ) took top honors with a time of 1:42.54.  In the 1000 yard freestyle Richardson found a victory timing in at 10:36.56 with freshman Jared Ciccarelli (Staten Island/Tottenville) coming in with a runner-up finish at 10:45.63, together the pair secured 13 points for the Red Dragon men.  Ciccarelli found the winner's circle in both the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle events.  Classmate Devin Wunderlich (Kingston/Kingston) finished second to Ciccarelli in the 500 freestyle while Richardson was second in the 200 butterfly.  Richardson turned up again as a winner in the 100 yard butterfly with an impressive time of 56.19 which was almost four seconds ahead of his Brockport foe.

Kelly was successful in the 200 yard freestyle as he scored a triumph with a time of 1:50.20.  He was also a winner in the 100 yard freestyle touching the wall with a time of 50.20.

Brynin would not to  be outdone by his teammates when he also picked up a pair of individual victories in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke securing a time of 1:01.38 and 2:16.79 respectively.

Fothergill came on with another win for Oneonta securing nine more points taking the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.07.

The men's swimming and diving team will have a week off before heading to SUNY New Paltz to compete against the Hawks on Saturday, January 21 beginning at 1 PM.
