Men's swimming and diving defeats Brockport

The men's swimming and diving team travelled to Brockport today and returned home with a 144-89 dual meet victory. The win improves their record to 4-2 in dual meets.

Junior Colton Roe highlighted the afternoon by setting a new pool record in the 200 yard backstroke. Roe finished the event in a time of 1:56.33, breaking the old record by over two seconds. Brian Williams of Cortland had previously held the record set back in 1992.

Seniors Jermaine Miller and John Rein each won two events for the Red Dragons. Miller took the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. He scored 257.75 and 274.50 points, respectively. Rein took first in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle with times of 1:48.81 and 49.30.

Ryan Walsh and Lucas Santiago each won one individual swimming event. Walsh won the 50 yard freestyle in 22.72 while Santiageo took the 400 yard intermediate medley, finishing in 4:23.49.

Roe, Walsh, Rein and Connor Kelly teamed up to win the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:38. 62.

Oneonta will be in action again next Saturday, January 25, when they play host to New Paltz. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
