Box Score The SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team put 10 goals on the scoreboard today in a lopsided victory against visiting Cazenovia. The Red Dragons had seven different players score including four that registered their first collegiate goals. The Red Dragons are now 3-2-1 overall while the Wildcats fell to 1-4 on the season.
The high man today was sophomore
Zef Saljanin (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown), who registered a collegiate career high three goals in the game. He finished the contest with seven points, as he added an assist on Oneonta's ninth goal.
Classmate
Alex Winiarski (Great Neck/St. Anthony's) added one goal and three assists for Oneonta. Winiarski assisted on the opening three goals in the first half, as Oneonta jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the break.
Collecting their first collegiate goals in today's contest were freshmen
Anthony Passiatore (South Setauket/Ward Melville), who scored twice, and
Tyler Kirschner (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East),
Hans Purtell (Johnson City/Johnson City) and
Jared Dalleo (Marlboro/Our Lady of Lourdes). Dalleo also had a pair of assists while Kirschner had one assist.
Picking up his first win in an Oneonta uniform in goal was junior
Brian Wagstaff (Apalachin/Chenango Valley), who registered three saves in the match.
The 10 goals in the match for Oneonta was the first time since 2009 that they collected that many in one game. The three assists for Winiarski was the first time since 2006 that an individual had that many assists in one game.
Oneonta goes on the road this weekend for a pair of matches beginning Saturday at Rensselaer before traveling to Western New England College on Sunday.
