Box Score
On the road again, Oneonta (0-5) took another defeat to No.17 Amherst (1-1) with the score of 10-4.
Sophomore
Caroline Tulley (Malverne, Sacred Heart Academy) and Junior
Rebecca Monteith (West Islip, West Islip) scored two goals apiece to lead the Red Dragons, who were out-shot by a 30-13 margin.
Both teams struggled on offense in the first half, as the game was tied at one goal apiece 15 minutes into the contest. Kelley Trapp put Amherst on the board three minutes in, but it took more than 10 minutes for Tulley to find the equalizer for Oneonta.
Amherst would take charge from there, however, scoring the final three goals of the opening period to carry a 4-1 lead into the break.
Amherst received goals from Julia Viani and Marta Randall in the first 3:07 of the second half, but the Dragons responded with Tully and Monteith scoring eight and a half minutes apart, as the hosts held a 6-3 lead with 15:00 to go. After Randall and Monteith traded goals, Randall, Elizabeth Ludlow and Trapp scored to give Amherst a 10-4 cushion with 8:54 remaining, and neither team would find the back of the net again.
Junior
Annelise Muscietta (Lindenhurst, Walter O'Connell Copiague) came up with 11 saves and four ground balls, while Oneonta was 13-for-18 on clearing opportunities.
The Red Dragons will look to capture their first win when they will face Scranton on March 18th in their first home game of the season. The game will begin at 3:00 p.m. on All College Field.
