CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field team concluded the Cortland Classic on Saturday afternoon, with the Red Dragons competing in most events.
Freshman Alex Wheeler ran a personal best of 16:49.12 to finish 11th in the 5,000-meter. Sophomore Vincent DiStefano (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West) crossed at a personal best of 16:57.04 for 12th place. In the 800-meter, junior Colin Gerbsch (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) crossed tenth at 2:04.12, while freshman Garrett Ryan placed 11th at 2:04.62.
Senior Tariq Earl (Centereach, NY/Centereach) ran a personal best of 14.26 to win the 110-meter hurdle finals. Freshman Jacob Prentice (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) took sixth in the 400-meter with a time of 51.24. Junior Mark Cappellino ran a 53.17 for 11th overall.
Freshman Christopher Cordero placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at 59.13. Freshman Faustin O'Neill (Cooperstown, NY/Cherry Valley-Springfield) placed 10th (1:00.85), while sophomore Justin Berkowitz (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) took 11th (1:01.90).
In the 200-meter, junior Kejhaune Lester (Castleton, NY/Columbia) ran a 21.66 for fourth place. Senior Cam Spears (Bronx, NY/Monroe Woodbury) crossed at a personal best of 22.14 for 10th place. Freshman Amir Mceachin (Middletown, NY/Middletown) hit a personal best of 22.28 for tenth place.
Junior Elijah Cruz (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush Central) had a personal record of 14.39 in the shot put for sixth place. Senior Justin Baldwin (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian) finished 14th at 12.16 meters and was eighth in the discus at 40.77 meters. Senior Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford) was second in the discus at 45.04 meters.
In the triple jump, senior Josh Jerome (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) finished 3rd at 13.87 meters. Sophomore Gabriel Schoonmaker (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout Valley) set a personal best of 13.72 meters for fourth overall. Junior Isaiah Slater (Brooklyn, NY/John F. Kennedy) placed sixth at 13.35 meters.
