ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's cross country team was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team as announced this past week. The Red Dragons earn the recognition for the 17th time in program history. Additionally, junior Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) was named an all-academic athlete.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers. The Red Dragons recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.34.Â
Sloth, a psychology major, placed 13th at the SUNYAC Championships to earn All-SUNYAC Third Team honors. She then led the Red Dragons with a 40th-place finish at the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Oneonta took second at the SUNYAC Championships and finished 13th at the regional championships.
