ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced the conference's athletes of the week for September 1-7 on Monday afternoon, and Oneonta field hockey sophomore
Nina Contrera (Rochester, NY/Hilton) was named the Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week. Contrera recorded four goals for eight points to help the Red Dragons go 2-0 on the week.
The sophomore started the week on fire with a hat trick against Keuka, as Oneonta won the road match, 5-0. In their home opener against Castleton, Contrera recorded the game-tying goal at 56:37 to force overtime, and the Red Dragons went on to defeat the Spartans in double overtime, 3-2. Contrera currently leads the team in goals (4) and points (9).
Oneonta currently sits at 3-1 overall and their next game is on Wednesday, September 10, when they face Hartwick in the Battle of the Hills at 4 pm on All College Field.
