Red Dragons Win Oneonta Airfield Invitational

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's cross country team won the annual Airfield Invitational on Friday evening, scoring 16 points in the 4k race held at Fortin Park. Hartwick took second with 46 points.

Sophomore Natalia Sweat (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) placed first overall at 15:39.4, and a recent Oneonta graduate crossed second at 15:42.9. The Red Dragons took the following three spots with junior Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) taking third at 15:50.9 and junior Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) running 15:55.6 for fourth overall. Freshman Jill Cinquina (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) finished fifth with a 16:29.6.

Sophomore Anna Kern (Central Valley, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) was Oneonta's fifth finisher. She took seventh at 16:57.0, and freshman Summer Sayaves (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) grabbed eighth at 17:11.5.

The Red Dragons claimed 10th through 16th, with freshman Kaitlynn Slobodin (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) taking 10th at 17:23.7. Freshman Sam Salomon (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) finished 11th at 17:25.7, while junior Olivia Komacek (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) crossed 12th at 17:31.1. Freshman Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) placed 13th (17:40.7), freshman Lilly Jacobs (Williamson, NY/Williamson Central) was 14th (17:51.3), senior Keyla Mendoza (Freeport, NY/Freeport) took 15th (18:02.0, and senior Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) earned 16th (18:02.5).

Oneonta next competes at the SUNYAC Preview meet hosted by Plattsburgh on Sept. 13.
