NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to New Paltz in SUNYAC action on Friday afternoon. The Red Dragons fall to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while the Hawks move to 4-0 and 4-0 in the conference.
At the No. 1 doubles, junior Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) and sophomore Annika Cripe (Islip, N.Y./Islip) were bested by New Paltz's Justine Stanejko and Sam Ostrander 6-1. No. 2 Kiersten Rufrano (Oneonta, NY) and Dakota Jimenez (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) fell 6-0 to Patrycja Filonik and Olivia Kunz.
Peck and Cripe had the closest single matches, but New Paltz took them both. No. 1 Peck dropped to Stanejko 6-2, 6-0, while Cripe fell to Ostrander 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2. At the No. 4 spot, Jimenez took a point, but ultimately lost 6-0, 6-1.
Oneonta next travels to face Misericordia on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.
