PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's cross country team placed second overall at the SUNYAC Preview Meet hosted by Plattsburgh on Saturday morning. Cortland won the meet with 29 points, while Oneonta took second with 48.
Plattsburgh's Grace Estus won the 6k race at 23:52.0, while sophomore Natalia Sweat (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) ran a 23:54.7 to place second overall. Junior Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) crossed eighth overall at 23:58.2, and freshman Jill Cinquina (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) crossed ninth at 24:06.4.
Sophomore Anna Kern (Central Valley, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) placed 14th at 25:23.0. Freshman Kaitlynn Slobodin (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) took 17th at 25:31.1, while senior Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) finished 19th at 25:51.0.
Freshman Summer Sayaves (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) was Oneonta's seventh finisher and placed 20th at 26:05.7. Sophomore Sophia Allen (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) was 21st (26:09.0), junior Olivia Komacek (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) took 22nd (26:11.5), and freshman Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) grabbed 23rd (26:12.2)
Oneonta next competes at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Sat. Sept. 20.
