Oneonta Puts Four on Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Team

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Four Oneonta student-athletes have earned places on the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performances.

The Red Dragons receiving the honors this year are rising seniors Justin Baldwin (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian) and Drew Obernesser (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) and rising juniors Chris Schimkus (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and Tom Pinkowski (Groton, NY/Groton High School).

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. A limit of five nominations per team is set. In Track & Field / Cross Country, nominees must be ranked among the Top 50 in the region in at least one event (XC, indoor or outdoor).

Baldwin (exercise science) currently has a 3.76 cumulative GPA, while Obernesser (professional accounting) has a 3.97 GPA. Schimkus (professional accounting) finished the year at 3.65, and Pinkowski (geography) recorded a 3.75.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field / cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Select Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 16.
