CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta track & field team placed second out of 11 scoring teams with 170 points to conclude the SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Cortland won the meet with 238 points. The Red Dragons finished with four individual champions on the day. Additionally, freshman Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) was the SUNAYC Most Valuable Performer and Rookie of the Meet.
Sophomore Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) took second in the heptathlon with 3,638 points. She won the 200-meter race at 27.89 and was first in the long jump at 5.05 meters.
Sophomore Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) was the SUNYAC Champion in the 10,000-meter race at a personal best of 39.27.47. Junior Olivia Holland (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) took third with a personal record of 40:04.05.
Freshman Sophia Allen (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) scored in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a seventh-place finish (12:23.45).
Oneonta's 4x100 relay took silver, with Schrag, Danielle Jackson (Bronx, NY/Central Park East), Brianna Senatore (/), and Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) running a 49.91.
Schrag took first in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.38. Jackson crossed sixth in the 400-meter race at 1:01.60.
Freshman Natalia Sweat (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) earned the silver medal in the 800-meter race at 2:18.79. Junior Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) crossed eighth at 2:41.11.
Schrag continued with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:09.02. Senior Sage Douglass (Pine Plains, NY/Stissing Mountain) placed fourth at 1:11.05. Freshman Kristanna Samascott (/) finished seventh in the 200-meter race at 27.28.
In the 5,000-meter, senior Sabrinna Mena (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) took third overall at 18:38.79. Sophomore Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) ran a 19:01.59 for fourth place.
The 4x400 relay of Senatore, Douglass, Jackson, and Sweat concluded the track events. The group ran a 4:16.79 for fourth overall.
Freshman Wealthy Robinson (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) went fourth in the hammer throw (42.86 meters), while freshman Mackenzie Lawrence (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox) took seventh (40.16 meters).
Schrag placed second in the long jump at 5.21 meters, and Dodd-Brown placed fifth at 4.96 meters.
DuBose was the SUNYAC triple jump champion at 10.69 meters. Schrag finished sixth at 10.08 meters.
Junior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) earned silver in the discus at 33.98 meters, while sophomore Sophia Mitreski (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) took bronze at 33.58 meters. Freshman Kailey Allen (Buffalo, NY/Depew) threw 31.12 meters for seventh.
Lawrence won the shot put at 11.68 meters. Herman took fifth at 11.12 meters, while Robinson was seventh at 10.70 meters.
Oneonta next competes at the AARTFC Championships on May 14.
