Oneonta Places Second at RPI Capital District Classic

TROY, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field team took second out of 12 teams at Friday's RPI Capital District Classic with 94 points. RPI won the meet with 228 points.

Freshman Jaiden Schrag (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley Central) reached the 100-meter hurdle finals after taking second in the prelims at 15.31. Junior Ashlee Sphabmixay (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) reached the finals with a personal best of 17.35 for eighth. Schrag finished second in the finals at 14.88, while Sphabmixay took eighth at 18.37.

Three Red Dragons reached the 100-meter dash finals. In the prelims, senior Danielle Jackson (Bronx, NY/Central Park East) was third (13.10), sophomore Brianna Senatore (/) took fourth (13.22), and freshman Kristanna Samascott (/) finished eighth (13.44). Jackson crossed third in the finals at 12.80, while Senatore ran a 13.00 for sixth. Samascott placed eighth at 13.08.

Oneonta 4x100 relay of Schrag, Jackson, Senatore, and sophomore Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) took second at 49.69.

Freshman Anna Kern (Central Valley, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) ran a personal best of 5:11.48 to cross 11th in the 1,500. In the 800-meter race, freshman Natalia Sweat (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) placed fourth at 2:19.12, while senior Sabrinna Mena (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) took eighth at 2:26.79.

DuBose ran a personal record of 26.63 to finish seventh in the 200-meter dash, while Schrag took ninth at a personal best of 26.78. Samascott earned 11th at 27.78.

In the 5,000, junior Caroline Westvig (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) crossed at a personal best of 21.28.25 for seventh overall.

The Red Dragon 4400 relay of Senatore, senior Sage Douglass (Pine Plains, NY/Stissing Mountain), sophomore Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle), and Sweat placed second at 4:15.22.

Junior Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) recorded a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw at 44.95 meters. She took third in the shot put at a personal best of 12.46 meters. Freshman Mackenzie Lawrence (Berne, NY/Berne-Knox) took fourth at 12.23 meters, while freshman Wealthy Robinson (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) placed sixth at 11.16 meters.

Douglass won the javelin at 36.49 meters.

In the long jump, Schrag hit 5.24 meters for fourth overall. DuBose earned fourth in the triple jump with 10.45 meters. Freshman Ashley LaReddola (Coram, NY/Longwood) cleared 2.75 meters in the pole vault to place fourth.

Oneonta next competes at the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships from May 2-3 at Cortland.
