Oneonta Men's Track & Field Travels to Utica Blue & Orange Invitational

UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field continued the indoor season at the Utica Blue & Orange Invitational on Saturday, with the Red Dragons returning with some solid performances.

The track events opened with sophomore Tariq Earl (Centereach, NY/Centereach) placing third in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with an AARTFC qualifying time of 8.46. He took fifth in the finals at 8.44.

Fifth-year John Balk, Jr. (Suffern, NY/Suffern) ran a personal record of 4:28.08 to place 11th in the mile. Freshman Thomas Stasichin (Massapequa, NY/Mas) finished second at 52.00 in the 400-meter race, while junior Cameron Spears crossed 11th at 53.02.

In the 200-meter dash, junior Josh Jerome (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) ran a 23.12 to grab tenth place.

Fifth-year Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) placed eighth in the 3,000-meter race at 8:27.77.

The Oneonta distance medley relay of Matt Hayden (Long Valley, NJ), Pat Leahy (Seaford, NY/Seaford), Jonathan McGwyne-Dantis (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee), and Balk took third at 11:10.72.

In the field events, sophomore Isaiah Slater (Brooklyn, NY/John F. Kennedy) cleared 6.39 meters to finish tenth in the long jump. Freshman Ayobami Adebayo (Long Island, NY/Longwood) went 1.82 meters in the high jump to earn seventh place. Senior Michael Carey (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) earned 16th in the pole vault at 3.86 meters.

Junior Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford) went for 15.27 meters in the weight throw to place eighth. He then took 12th in the shot put at 13.49 meters.

Oneonta next competes at the Nazareth DIII Elite Meet from Feb. 14-15.
