CANTON, N.Y. -- The Oneonta women's tennis team fell on the road to St. Lawrence, 7-0, to start the spring season, Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons moved to 4-7 overall and the Saints improved to 2-0 this season.
St. Lawrence grabbed all three doubles matches for the doubles point. Junior
Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and freshman
Annika Cripe (Islip, N.Y./Islip) forced a tiebreaker on court No. 2, but Ellie Fritz and Alexandra Fuller took the match, 7-6 (7-4).
The Saints secured each single match in straight sets. Cripe played Fuller on court No. 4 and went into a tiebreaker in set one, however Fuller took the set, 7-6 (7-4), then earned set two, 6-2. Sophomore
Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) competed against Fritz on the No. 1 court and fell in two 6-3 sets.
The Red Dragons are back in action on Saturday, March 1, when they travel to take on William Smith at 2 pm.
