Oneonta Men's Track & Field Wraps Up First Day of Nazareth D3 Elite Meet

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's track & field concluded the first day of the Nazareth D3 Elite Meet on Friday evening. The Red Dragons competed in six events on the opening day.

The track events began with the 5,000-meter race, where fifth-year John Balk, Jr. (Suffern, NY/Suffern) took 11th at 15:42.30.

Sophomore Tariq Earl (Centereach, NY/Centereach) placed second in the 60-meter hurdle prelims at 8.39 to qualify for tomorrow's finals.  

The Oneonta 4x400 relay of Cameron Spears, Masen Valachovic (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield), Thomas Stasichin (Massapequa, NY/Mas), and Justin Berkowitz (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) earned sixth place at 3:28.21.

Junior Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford) took eighth in the weight throw at 15.46 meters, and senior Marco Altieri (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island) grabbed 12th at 14.61 meters.

Freshman Ayobami Adebayo (Long Island, NY/Longwood) cleared 6.63 meters in the long jump to place sixth overall. Sophomore Isaiah Slater (Brooklyn, NY/John F. Kennedy) was 11th at 6.52 meters.

Oneonta continues the D3 Elite Meet on Sat. Feb. 15 at 10 a.m.
