UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's had two top-five finishers pace the way to a second-place team finish at Saturday's SUNY Poly Short Course 4k Invitational. Utica won the meet with 22 points, while Oneonta took second with 33 points.
Senior Sabrinna Mena (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) was the top Red Dragon and ran a 17:23.4 to finish second overall. Utica's Jade Dening won the meet at 17:17.1. Sophomore Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) crossed fourth at 17:25.4. Sophomore Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) finished eighth at 18:10.2, while senior Samantha Krayeski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber Senior) crossed ninth with 18:13.4. Junior Olivia Holland (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) followed for tenth overall (18:39.5).
Sophomore Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) placed 11th (18:47), and freshman Anna Kern () crossed 12th (18:48).
Senior Sarah Luby (Patterson, NY/Brewster) ran a 19:07.1 to take 15th. Freshman Sophia Allen (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) was 18th (19:54.4), while freshman Abbie Battle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) crossed 19th (19:57.6).
Oneonta next travels to the Oswego State Invitational on Sat Sept. 7 at 11 a.m.
