Red Dragons Continue Season at Cortland Open

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field team wrapped up action at the Cortland Red Dragon Open on Sunday afternoon. 

Oneonta opened the day by taking second overall in the 4x100 relay. Maggie Petty (Highland, NY/Highland), Danielle Jackson (Bronx, NY/Central Park East), Nicolette DuBose (Levittown, NY/Island Trees), and Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) ran a 50.05.

In the 1,500-meter race, junior Sarah Luby (Patterson, NY/Brewster) ran a 5:14.25 to finish tenth overall. 

Freshman Eko Dodd-Brown (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.75), and sophomore Ashlee Sphabmixay (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) was eighth (18.41).

Jackson ran a 13.13 to take seventh in the 100-meter, while freshman Brianna Senatore () was tenth at 13.20. Petty placed 11th with a 13.22. Senatore went on to finish ninth in the 200-meter with a 27.30.

The Red Dragons had a strong showing in the field events and went 1-2 in the javelin. Junior Sage Douglass (Pine Plains, NY/Stissing Mountain) placed first at 32.80 meters, and sophomore Tarryn Herman (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) was second at 29.83 meters. 

Oneonta took the top four spots in the shot put, and senior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall) won at 13.09 meters. Senior Emelene Burek (Latham, NY/Shaker) placed second (11.48 meters), Herman was third (11.10 meters), and junior Teghan Garris (Dryden, NY/Dryden) took fourth (10.67 meters). 

Fabrizio earned second in the hammer throw at 47.21 meters, and sophomore Gabi Ragozzine (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) placed sixth at 42.62 meters. Burek finished seventh at 39.79 meters. 

Ragozzine was the top Red Dragon in the discus at 35.95 meters. 

Nnate won the long jump with a mark of 5.22 meters.

Oneonta next competes at the RPI Friday Night Under the Lights meet on Fri. Apr. 12.
