ONEONTA, N.Y. -Â Two members of the Oneonta men's cross-country team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) all-academic team. Junior Gabe Burns (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) and freshman Chris Schimkus (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) both received the honor.Â
Burns placed 22nd at the NCAA Division III Championships, while Schimkus finished 41st overall. The duo are also the first to be honored on the men's side since 2019.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
