CANTON, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team traveled north for their match against St. Lawrence and fell to the Saints, 9-0, Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons sit at 9-7 on the season while the Saints improved to 2-0.
Oneonta was unable to win a game in the doubles matches. Seniors
Julia Holtermann (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and
Brianna Shaw (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) were defeated on the No. 1 court against Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and Molly Jespersen.
On the No. 1 singles court, Holtermann was defeated by Aksdal-Jansen, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman
Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) and senior
Illana Ger (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) both dropped their singles matches 6-0, 6-3 on the No. 3 and No. 5 courts, respectively. Sophomore
Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) fell on the No. 4 court against Yvette Karera, 6-2, 6-0.
The Red Dragons are back in action Sunday, March 3, for a 12 pm match at William Smith.
