Red Dragons Take Second at Cortland Snow Flurries Invite

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team finished second out of four teams at the two-day Cortland Snow Flurries Invite. The Red Dragons scored 677.5 points, while host Cortland won with 1441.5 points.

Freshman Alexis Gibson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) highlighted the first-day events with a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM at 2:19.28. Junior Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) took second in the 50-yard freestyle, and senior Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) swam a 5:42.60 in the 500-yard freestyle to place fifth.

On Saturday, Gibson opened up with a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:01.59. LaBarbera touched sixth in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:09.35, and Nakken was seventh at 2:09.75.

Senior Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:17.99. In the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Alexandria Bard (Schenectady, NY/Duanesburg) placed third at 1:09.24, while sophomore Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) was fourth at 1:09.94.

The 200-yard freestyle relay of LaBarbera, Lilliock, senior Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), and Nakken swam a 1:46.87 for third overall. Nakken grabbed third in the 1,650-yard freestyle at 19:42.93, and senior Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) was seventh at 21:54.72.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Bard finished third at 2:26.66, while Thompson was fifth at 2:41.32.

Gibson earned her third victory of the meet in the 100-yard freestyle with a 56.16. LaBarbera placed sixth at 58.40. Senior Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley) took third in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:55.58, and sophomore Raina Willie (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville Senior) finished fifth at 3:12.27.

Junior Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) finished third in the one-meter dive with 332.48 points.

Oneonta next competes in a dual match at Cortland on Fri. Jan. 24 at 4 p.m.
