ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Oneonta men's soccer team had four athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games or started at least two-thirds of the team's contests.
Senior
Owen Siegel (Liberty, N.Y./Liberty), and juniors
Dillon Kelly (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Beacon),
AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon), and
Sam Rogers (Broadalbin, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth) were the four Red Dragons to earn CSC All-District honors. It is the second time Siegel and Kelly received the recognition, and the first for Lucas and Rogers.
Siegel (Communications Studies) appeared and started in all 18 games for Oneonta and finished with one goal and two assists for four points. His goal was the game-winner in a 1-0 road match against RPI.
Kelly (Biology) started in 17 games for the Red Dragons and recorded four assists for four points. He was tied for 13th in the SUNYAC in assists and recorded one on Prosperi's game-winning goals against Cortland and New Paltz.
Rogers (Business Administration) started all 17 games he played and totaled two goals and two assists for six points. He was tied for sixth on the team in points and recorded a game-winning goal against city-rival Hartwick.
Lucas (Biology) started in net for 17 games for the team. He finished with 66 saves for a .825 save percentage, allowed 14 goals for 0.83 goals against average, and recorded six shutouts for a 10-3-4 record. Lucas had four of his six shutouts in conference play and had a 0.833 save percentage against SUNYAC teams.
On the season, the Red Dragons forced opponents to nine shutouts and limited teams to 0.78 goals, 9.9 total shots and 4.6 shots on goal per game. Oneonta finished 11-3-4 overall and made it to the semifinals of the SUNYAC Tournament.
