OSWEGO, N.Y. - Senior Sabrinna Mena (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) placed second overall to help the Oneonta women's cross country team finish second at Saturday morning's SUNYAC Championships.
Cortland won the meet with 39 points, while Oneonta finished with 43. Cortland's Melissa Innocent was the individual champion at 23:43.3
Mena crossed at 24:04.9 to grab All-SUNYAC First Team honors. Oneonta had two more runners in the top ten, with sophomore Gia Engel (Syosset, NY/Syosset) taking seventh at 24:36.0 and freshman Anna Kern () taking eighth at 24:36.5. Both picked up All-SUNYAC Second Team recognition. Junior Eva Woodworth (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) crossed 11th overall at 24:51.5 to grab third-team honors, and sophomore Anya Sloth (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta Senior) joined her on the third team after placing 15th at 25:24.1
Junior Olivia Holland (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) ran a 24:35.4 to finish 17th, while senior Samantha Krayeski (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber Senior) was 27th at 26:20.6. Sophomore Keyla Mendoza (Freeport, NY/Freeport) ran a 26:56.8 to cross 39th overall. Senior Sarah Luby (Patterson, NY/Brewster) took 44th (27:16.7), and freshman Sophia Allen (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) finished 45th (27:21.0).
Additionally, Mena was named to the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Championship Hall of Fame for finishing in the top five in one championship meet over her career.
Oneonta next competes at the NCAA Division III Niagara Regional Championships held at Fredonia on Sat. Nov. 16
