TROY, N.Y. -- The Oneonta field hockey team dropped their regular season finale to RPI, 3-0, on the road Saturday afternoon. RPI scored all three goals in the first half, each from a different player. The Red Dragons wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 9-8 while the Engineers finished 8-9.
Lauren McCarthy scored the first goal for RPI at 0:50 then Rachel Banister made it 2-0 at 4:15. The Engineers recorded the final goal of the contest at 20:42 in the second period.
The Red Dragons had a few chances throughout the game to hit the cage but were stopped by Olivia Brovak. Graduate student
Erin Clark (Somers, N.Y./Somers) had two shots on goal in the second and fourth periods, while both senior
Emilia Montgomery (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) and junior
Molly Miller (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) recorded one.
Junior
Maura Leib (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) finished the game with six saves, and Brovak had four. RPI outshot Oneonta 16-9 overall, 9-4 on target, and had a 9-6 edge in penalty corners.
The Red Dragons will travel to New Paltz on Wednesday, November 6, to take on the Hawks in the SUNYAC Tournament semifinals at 2 pm.
