BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team were bested by Cortland, 5-2, Thursday afternoon in the first of three days at the Binghamton Tennis Center. Freshman Annika Cripe (Islip, N.Y./Islip) won her first collegiate match in singles play, while junior Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) secured the other match point for Oneonta with a singles victory. Oneonta moved to 3-3 on the season, 0-3 in SUNYAC play, while Cortland improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Copp and Cripe won their singles matches on the No. 2 and No. 4 singles courts, respectively. Copp defeated Mary Repass, 6-3, 6-4, while Cripe secured her first victory against Hannah Green in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. Sophomore Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) went back and forth with Christina Massoni on the No. 1 court, but Massoni took the match in the super tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. In doubles play, junior Kelly Hayes (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) and freshman Taylor Plue (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) defeated Alexandra Thut and Repass on the No. 2 court in a tightly contested match, 7-5.
