Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East). The team moved to 2-4 on the season, while the Pacers improved to 2-2. Â
Marywood got on the board at 6:13 with a goal from Dariane Jones that was assisted by Corrin Hasty. At the beginning of the second period, the Red Dragons were moving the ball in transition down the sideline. The ball made it to Howell who got inside the shooting circle and backhand shot it towards the net where Ricottilli redirected it in. The tie lasted momentarily as the Pacers' Cydney Lahr scored with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Graduate student
Morgan Fleming (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville) had a shot to tie the game at 24:37 but was stopped by Leah Ewing and Marywood held on to the 2-1 into halftime.
It was a defensive showcase in the second half as neither team hit the cage in the final 30. Sophomore
Maura Leib (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) stopped eight shots in the half, senior
Larkin Uhl (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) had a defensive save, and Ewing saved three for Marywood to hold on to the win.
Leib finished with 16 saves while Ewing stopped five shots for the Pacers. Â
Marywood out shot Oneonta 27-8 and had a 9-8 edge on penalty corners. Â
Oneonta is back in action on Wednesday for their SUNYAC opener at Cortland in the Battle of the Red Dragons at 5 pm.Â
