Cross Country Slated to Start Season Sept. 2

Red Dragons Set to Host SUNYAC Championships Oct. 28

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's and women's cross country teams look to begin the 2023 season on Sept. 2 at the SUNY Poly Wildcat Invitational. The Red Dragons have eight meets scheduled, and Oneonta highlights the year by hosting the SUNYAC Championships on Oct. 28 at Fortin Park. 

Following the Wildcat Short Course Invite, the Red Dragons host the Al Pastore Airfield Invitational on Fri. Sept. 8 at Fortin Park. The women race at 5 p.m. in a 4k course, while the men start at 5:45 p.m. in a 6k. The following weekend, the teams travel for the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Sat. Sept. 16. 

After a weekend off, the Red Dragons race at the highly competitive Lehigh Paul Short Invitational on Sat. Sept. 30 before a mid-week 5k race at the Delhi Bronco Classic on Wed. Oct. 4. 

Oneonta has one final tune-up before championship season at the Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational on Sat. Oct. 14. 

The SUNYAC Championships are on Sat. Oct. 28. the women placed fourth last season, while the men were fifth. Two weeks later, the Red Dragons travel to Houghton, NY, for the NCAA Division III Niagara Regional Championships on Sat. Nov. 11.

The NCAA Division III National Championship will be held in Newville, PA, and hosted by Dickinson College. Last season Megan Francoeur (New Lebanon, NY/Pittsfield (MA)) represented the Red Dragons and placed 129th.
