Fecci To Continue Soccer Career at Division I Grand Canyon University

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Division III Men's Soccer All-American and recent SUNY Oneonta graduate Lucas Fecci (Somers, N.Y./Somers) is moving to Division I and looks ahead to playing a graduate school year at Grand Canyon University for the 2023 season. Fecci played four years for the Red Dragons and finished his career as one of Oneonta's top offensive playmakers.

"I am very thankful for a great four years with the men's soccer program here at Oneonta," said Fecci. "It has allowed me to excel at my passion while making memories with my teammates and friends. These four years have given me the confidence and the tools to face this next challenge at the Division I level with Grand Canyon University."

In 2022, Fecci was named First Team All-Region, First Team All-Conference, the Huntley Parker SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year, and the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. He started all 21 games for the Red Dragons, led the team with 14 goals, including five game-winners, and added five assists for 33 points. Fecci tied for tenth most in program history in goals and points scored in a single season. Oneonta hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament and reached the round of 16.

Fecci was also the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 and was all-region first-team and all-conference first-team.

Fecci finished, "I'd also like to give a special thanks to all the people who supported me these past four years; my family, coaches, faculty, and most importantly, my teammates."

Grand Canyon starts its season on Aug. 24 at Wake Forest and went 7-8-3 overall in 2022.
