Red Dragons Wrap Up Utica CNY Fast Chance Meet

UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta track & field teams competed in the final tune-up before the AARTFC Regional Championships with the CNY Fast Chance Meet held at Utica University on Sunday. The meet allowed athletes to qualify for the regional or national meets, and the Red Dragons took a small group to compete.

In the women's 1,500-meter, junior Olivia O'Donnell (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) placed fourth overall with 4:58.33, while junior Eion McCalin was sixth in the men's race at 4:10.45.

Junior Taylor Johnson (White Plains, NY/White Plains) ran a personal record of 13.60 in the 100-meter and 28.35 in the 200-meter.

In the men's 200-meter race, freshman Joshua Jerome crossed at 23.09, and Nick Darrigo (Albany, NY/Guilderland) ran a 23.49. 

Senior Hannah Jackson (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) took fourth in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 46.61 meters, and senior Christina Groleau (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) was eighth at 43.53 meters. Freshman Gabi Ragozzine (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) recorded a throw of 40.35 meters for 13th overall. 

Senior Miles Moliterni (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) hit 54.20 meters to place second overall, and Jason Briscoe (Delmar/Bethlehem Central) hit 47.14 meters to take ninth. 

Freshman Sawyer Eckberg (Maryland, NY/Laurens-Milford) went seventh in the men's discus throw at 41.36 meters. Freshman Cliff Biehl was third at 49.82 meters in the men's javelin.

Oneonta next competes at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships held at Susquehanna University from Wed. May 17 to Thur. May 18.
