CANTON, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team fell in their Spring season opener to St. Lawrence, 9-0, Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons are now 8-3 overall while the Saints are 1-0.  

St. Lawrence took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches 8-2, while on the No. 2 court, Caitlyn Avery and Emily Harris defeated juniors Brianna Shaw (Staten Island/Curtis) and Sophia Schutte (Great Neck/Great Neck), 8-3.  

In the singles matches, freshman Danielle Copp (Marcellus/Marcellus) had the closest singles match, falling to Meredith Macey, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Gabrielle Loria (Levittown, N.Y.) made her Red Dragon debut in the No. 5 singles, but unfortunately could not get her first win.  

Oneonta is back in action on March 5th for a match against William Smith at 12 pm.  Read Full Article
