NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team fell to New Paltz on the road, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon. The result brought the Red Dragons to 7-10 on the season as they finished out SUNYAC play 2-4 while the Hawks moved to 12-4 overall and finished 5-1 in the conference. Â
New Paltz's first goal was scored in the early minutes of the second period off a penalty corner opportunity where Rachel Tama shot the ball from the left side of the circle and had it redirected in by Amanda Quenneville. Senior
Carly O'Connor (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) registered the first shot on goal for Oneonta at 17:42 but it was kick saved by Gail Comiskey. Â
New Paltz scored two goals in the third period off the sticks of Quenneville and Ayden Fleming, then Miranda Britton netted their last one at 48:22. Graduate student
Morgan Fleming (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville) had the last chance to get Oneonta on the board at 49:45, but it was stopped by Comiskey.
Sophomore
Maura Leib (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) saved 17 shots for the Red Dragons. Senior
Larkin Uhl (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) recorded three defensive saves while senior
Michaela Maniscalco (Northport, N.Y./Northport) had two, and freshmen
Abigail Draper (Remsen, NY/Holland Patent) and
Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) each had one defensive stop. Â
New Paltz outshot Oneonta 28-3 on net and had a 23-1 penalty corner advantage. Â
The Red Dragons close out the season on Saturday with a nonconference match against RPI at 3 pm on All College Field.
