Morgan Fleming (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville) scored the first two goals to tie the contest before freshman
Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) netted the game-winner in the fourth period. The Red Dragons improved to 7-8 on the season and 2-3 in the SUNYAC while the Lakers dropped to 5-11 overall and 1-4 in the conference. Â
Oswego got on the board eight minutes into the game when Bryleigh Beauchat found Nancy Pagliaroli for the score. The Lakers extended their lead before halftime at 20:55 with a goal from Kate McNally off an assist from Kacie Simzer. Â
Oneonta commanded the third quarter and finally got on the board in the final minute when junior
Emilia Montgomery (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) pushed out the penalty corner and got the ball to Howell who found Fleming for the goal. The Red Dragons were awarded a penalty shot in the closing seconds of the third where Fleming got it past Ky Phillips to tie the game. Â
Oneonta recorded the go-ahead goal five minutes into the final period when Fleming dished it to Howell for her fifth goal of the season. With less than 30 seconds remaining, Molly Darcy had one last chance to tie the game for Oswego, however sophomore
Maura Leib (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) made the save.
Leib finished with seven saves for the Red Dragons and Phillips stopped seven shots for the Lakers.
Oneonta outshot Oswego 20-13, 10-9 on target, and held a 15-7 advantage in penalty corners. Â
The Red Dragons are back in action tomorrow for a make-up game against Stockton in Galloway, NJ at 11 am.Â
