WILKES-BARRE, PA – The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team wrapped up the 2023 fall season with two wins over King's College and Misericordia, Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons finished the fall with an overall record of 9-5 after beating the Monarchs, 6-3, and the Cougars, 5-4. Seniors
Julia Holtermann (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and
Illana Ger (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) set the pace for the Red Dragons, winning seven matches combined.
Oneonta 6, Kings 3
Oneonta swept the doubles matches against King's. Holtermann teamed up with senior
Sophia Schutte (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck) on the No. 1 court and beat Ashley Kenia and Hailey D'Amato, 8-4. Sophomore
Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and freshman
Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) battled Jackie Costello and Carlee Dellose on the No. 2 court for an 8-6 win, and the duo of Ger and sophomore
Kelly Hayes (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) completed the sweep on the No. 3 court, defeating Sarah Settler and Emma Rooney, 8-5.
Holtermann, Copp, and Ger all secured a match point in their singles matches against the Monarchs. On the No. 1 court, Holtermann walked away with an 8-1 win over Kenia. Copp defeated Costello on the No. 3 court, 8-2, and Ger recorded an 8-5 victory against Dellose on the No. 4 court.

Holtermann and senior
Brianna Shaw (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) were the only pair to win their match against Misericordia. On the No. 1 court, the duo beat Emily Brecker and Erin Cridge, 8-6. Schutte and Copp went into a tiebreaker on the No. 2 court against Lydia Barbour and Hailey Loughlin, but came up short and fell, 8-7 (7-4).
The Red Dragons got what they needed in singles play and won four of the six games to take the match over the Cougars. Holtermann won on the No. 1 court against Cassie Benderavich, 8-2, and Shaw picked up an 8-4 win on the No. 3 court over Cridge. Peck and Ger closed it out for Oneonta as Peck defeated Isabella Aniska on the No. 4 court, 8-5, and Ger beat Teresa Thomas, 8-4, on the No. 6 court.
The Red Dragons will take a break from action and return on February 10 for a road match against RIT at 11 am.
