Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) recorded two goals and an assist, and senior
Taylor Moore (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and sophomore
Olivia Bonelli (Kerhonkson, N.Y./Rondout Valley) scored their first career goals in the victory. The Red Dragons improved to 6-8 on the season while the Golden Flyers dropped to 1-12.
Moore got Oneonta on the board with her first goal at 12:48 when she took the penalty corner and got in front of the cage to redirect senior
Michaela Maniscalco's (Northport, N.Y./Northport) shot into the net.
Howell had a couple shots on target that were saved in the early moments of the second period but managed to find the back of the cage twice in the final six minutes of the half. Similar to the team's first goal, Howell scored off a penalty corner with an assist from Maniscalco. Her second goal, and fourth of the season, was an unassisted shot at 28:39 for a 3-0 lead heading into halftime. Â
Howell found Fleming for her 12th goal of the season to put Oneonta ahead 4-0 to start the third period. They made it a five-goal game at 42:18 when Bonelli netted her first career goal off an assist from senior
Carly O'Connor (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas).
The Golden Flyers escaped the shutout at 46:18 with a goal from Audra Mieczkowski, however the Red Dragons found the back of the net one more time with an unassisted goal by Maniscalco.
Sophomore
Maura Leib (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) played 45 minutes and saved five shots, while sophomore
Chelsea Dodenhoff (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) played the final 15. Lauren Bachner led the three Nazareth goalies with 34:06 minutes and seven saves.
Oneonta outshot Nazareth 18-10, 14-6 on target, and had a slight edge in penalty corners, 8-7. Â
The Red Dragons are back in action Saturday for a SUNYAC match against Oswego at 1 pm on All College Field.Â
