ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team came up short in double overtime against Stockton, 1-0, Saturday morning. The Red Dragons dropped to 1-5 on the season while the Ospreys improved to 6-2.

Stockton scored the game-winning goal halfway through the second overtime period. Miana Alessandroni pushed out a penalty corner to Makenna LeHenaff. LeHenaff dribbled into the arc and scored on the right side of the goal.

In the beginning of the second overtime period, Oneonta had a chance to put the game away. After junior Madeline Acevedo's (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) shot was blocked, junior Erin Clark (Somers, N.Y./Somers) raced to the ball against Stockton's goalie, Kylie Mitchell. Clark beat Mitchell to lift the ball over her, but the shot was just off target.  

Senior Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) finished the game with seven saves and Mitchell ended with four saves.  

The Red Dragons are back in action on Wednesday when they host Keuka at 5 pm. Read Full Article
