ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team came up short in double overtime against Stockton, 1-0, Saturday morning. The Red Dragons dropped to 1-5 on the season while the Ospreys improved to 6-2.
Stockton scored the game-winning goal halfway through the second overtime period. Miana Alessandroni pushed out a penalty corner to Makenna LeHenaff. LeHenaff dribbled into the arc and scored on the right side of the goal.
In the beginning of the second overtime period, Oneonta had a chance to put the game away. After junior
Madeline Acevedo's (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) shot was blocked, junior
Erin Clark (Somers, N.Y./Somers) raced to the ball against Stockton's goalie, Kylie Mitchell. Clark beat Mitchell to lift the ball over her, but the shot was just off target. Â
Senior
Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) finished the game with seven saves and Mitchell ended with four saves. Â
The Red Dragons are back in action on Wednesday when they host Keuka at 5 pm.
