ONEONTA, N.Y. -- As the game looked like it was heading towards overtime, Geneseo ran down the field and scored with 14 seconds remaining to defeat the SUNY Oneonta field hockey team, Saturday afternoon, 1-0. The Red Dragons are now 5-7 in the season and 2-2 in the SUNYAC, while the Knights improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference.  

Less than 30 seconds remained when Geneseo moved the ball down the length of the field for the goal. Maggie Phipps reached the 25-yard line and passed it into the arc to Sydney Carnival. Carnival gave a little touch pass to the left side of the cage to Jenna Piotrowski for the goal.  

Senior Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) kept the Red Dragons in the contest and finished the game with 11 saves, the fourth time this season she has recorded double-digit saves. In the third period, Tumino recorded her 100th career save.  

Geneseo outshot Oneonta 21-1 and had a 14-2 advantage on penalty corners.

Prior to the game, the Red Dragons recognized and celebrated the careers of their eight seniors for Senior Day. The players recognized were Julia Bashark (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern), Elyssa DeWitt (Tillson, N.Y./Rondout Valley), Morgan Fleming (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville), Sophia Little (Northport, N.Y./Northport), Claire Mahoney (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River), Victoria Pixley (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel), Tumino, and Carly Waszczak (Northport, N.Y./Northport).
