ONEONTA, N.Y. -- As the game looked like it was heading towards overtime, Geneseo ran down the field and scored with 14 seconds remaining to defeat the SUNY Oneonta field hockey team, Saturday afternoon, 1-0. The Red Dragons are now 5-7 in the season and 2-2 in the SUNYAC, while the Knights improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Â
Less than 30 seconds remained when Geneseo moved the ball down the length of the field for the goal. Maggie Phipps reached the 25-yard line and passed it into the arc to Sydney Carnival. Carnival gave a little touch pass to the left side of the cage to Jenna Piotrowski for the goal. Â
Senior
Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) kept the Red Dragons in the contest and finished the game with 11 saves, the fourth time this season she has recorded double-digit saves. In the third period, Tumino recorded her 100th career save. Â
Geneseo outshot Oneonta 21-1 and had a 14-2 advantage on penalty corners.
Prior to the game, the Red Dragons recognized and celebrated the careers of their eight seniors for Senior Day. The players recognized were
