The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced today its 2021 All-Conference Team in women's lacrosse. A total of three Red Dragons earned second team selection for their outstanding performances on the field this spring.

Earning honors for Oneonta were seniors
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) and
Haley Vermette (Brewster/North Salem) and junior
Rachel Morris (East Greenbush/Columbia).

Calabrese is earning her second, second team nod of her career after being named in 2019.Â

Calabrese led the Red Dragons with 22 goals and was second on the team with 28 points. Midway through the season, she scored her 100
th career goal versus Plattsburgh. She was second on the team with 20 ground balls and was third with 21 draw controls.

For her career, Calabrese played in 49 games and scored 116 goals, added 38 assists for 154 points. She also collected 66 ground balls and 68 draw controls.

Calabrese was selected to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team.

Vermette and Morris are both being recognized for the first time. Vermette was named as a defender and Morris a midfielder.

After moving from midfield to the defense as a sophomore, Vermette became the team's most dominant defender over her final three seasons. This spring, she led the team in both ground balls (23) and caused turnovers (22). Vermette played in 49 career games and recorded 66 ground balls and 48 caused turnovers. She also tallied 17 points on 12 goals and five assists.

Morris was one of the team's top draw persons finishing tied with 23 draw controls. She was also fourth in both goals (16) and points (21) this spring.

Oneonta finished the pandemic abbreviated 2021 schedule 5-4 overall while qualifying for the SUNYAC tournament.
