A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta field hockey was on the short end of a 4-0 loss today at New Paltz in the SUNYAC regular season finale for both squads.  Despite the loss, the Red Dragons have earned the fourth and final spot in the SUNYAC tournament which begins next week.  Oneonta's semifinal opponent will be New Paltz back at their place next Wednesday.
 
The Inside Story
New Paltz (13-2, 6-0 SUNYAC) scored a single goal in the first quarter and added three more in the third quarter for the final margin of victory.  Four different Hawks tallied a goal while Jessica Ascencao added an assist on the first goal of the contest scored by Hannah Ackerman.
 
Just the Stats
Oneonta (3-11, 2-4 SUNYAC) was outshot and out-cornered in the game.  Starting goalie Kristy Campana (Melville/Walt Whitman) made seven saves in the first three quarters before being relieved by Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place/Carle Place) who made a pair of saves in the final quarter.
 
What's Next
Oneonta will close out its regular season on Saturday at home versus Rensselaer beginning at 4pm on All College Field.
