The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team had host Geneseo on its heels early, but fell today 2-1 in SUNYAC action. The loss for the Red Dragons has them at 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC while Geneseo moves to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

The Inside Story
After a scoreless first quarter, junior
Morgan Fleming (Harpursville/Harpursville) got Oneonta on the scoreboard midway through the second stanza. The goal was assisted by classmate
Sophia Little (Northport/Northport) on a penalty corner. The goal for Fleming was her fifth of the season, which leads the team.

The Red Dragons entered the third quarter with its one-goal advantage, but would trail by the end of the quarter 2-1. Geneseo posted a pair of goals late in the quarter coming three minutes apart. Both goals came off penalty corner situations. The first was scored in the 42
nd minute by Sadie Mitchell and the second came in the final minute of the quarter by Emma Fon.

Oneonta was outshot 14-5 in the game and earned eight penalty corners. Starting goalie
Kristy Campana (Melville/Walt Whitman) recorded seven saves in the game for Oneonta.

Oneonta will be at home this coming Wednesday when they host Skidmore on All College Field beginning at 5pm.
