The Inside Story
The Hawks scored first midway through the opening quarter on an unassisted goal by Lex Matarazzo. Matarazzo snuck behind the Oneonta goalie to tip a loose ball to the back of the goal for her fifth of the season.
Â
The two teams went the rest of the quarter and all through the second quarter with no goals for either side keeping the score at 1-0 Hartwick heading to halftime.
Â
Hartwick increased its lead by one on a goal after time expired in the third quarter. The Hawks were awarded a penalty corner with just over three seconds remaining and made the most of its opportunity. Leah Tolley was able to get her stick on a shot by Sydney Gagnon to redirect it to the back of the goal to officially end the quarter.
Â
Matarazzo notched her second goal of the game to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead with just under three minutes to go in the contest. The assist came from Emily Schaub who crossed the ball in front of the goalie where Matarazzo redirected it over the line.

Junior
Morgan Fleming (Harpursville/Harpursville) broke up the shutout with a goal in the final 30 seconds. Sophomore
Madeline Acevedo (Holland Patent/Holland Patent) set up the goal by dribbling into the circle before getting a pass to the front of the goal. Fleming controlled the pass and reversed her stick to put it by the Hartwick goalie.
