The SUNY Oneonta men's track & field team competed yesterday on day 1 of the Blue & Orange Invitational hosted by Utica College. The Red Dragons accumulated 32 points and finished tenth overall amongst 22 competing squads.

The Inside Story
Leading performers yesterday for the men included senior
Nicholas Grasso (Goshen/Burke Catholic), junior
Nick Michalowski (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), sophomore
Austin O'Malley (Goshen/Goshen HS) and newcomer Tyler Lopresti.

Lopresti posted a pair of personal best marks yesterday in the 60-meter dash and the 500-meter run. In the 60 unseeded event he finished 13
th overall with a career best 7.64 seconds. He came back later to post a time of 1:09.22 in finishing third in the 500.

Grasso finished third in the 200-meter dash running an indoor personal best time of 22.76 seconds. Freshman
Tyler Price (Stephentown/New Lebanon) also posted a personal best time in the event of 23.60 seconds.

Grasso anchored the 4x200-meter relay foursome that took second place overall in a time of 1:34.52. He was joined by Michalowski, junior
Jared Stauss (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) and sophomore
Jeremy Howell (Stony Point/North Rockland).

Michalowski posted a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles crossing in a time of 8.36 seconds.

Stauss had a busy meet competing in the pole vault and long jump and 200 where he finished 15
th, 12
th and 30
th respectively.

O'Malley had his best day of the indoor season in the pole vault clearing the school record that he shares of 4.10 meters (13'-5 ¼").

The throwers came away with one top-10 finish in the event, as junior
Norberto Cervantes (Williamson/Williamson) finished sixth in the weight posting a mark of 15.78 meters (51'-9 ¼").

What's Next
The men are scheduled to compete next weekend at the St. Valentine's Invitational at Boston University.
