Oneonta, NY - The SUNY Oneonta men's swimming & diving team fell at home to its rival from SUNY Cortland 130-109 in the Chase Physical Education pool this afternoon.
Several highlights for the Oneonta men took place in the 50 yard freestyle as junior
Ryan Meehan (Brooklyn/Telecommunications) was a victor touching the wall with a time of 23.41 only .51 seconds ahead of the Cortland runner-up. The 100 yard butterfly saw Oneonta take top honors as junior
Daniel Kohler (Nanuet/Nanuet) timed in at 57.02 less than a second ahead of the Cortland runner-up.
The relay team in the 200 yard medley found Oneonta winners when junior
Christopher Costanzo (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner), sophomore
Sean Geddes (Farmingdale/Farmingdale), Meehan and senior
Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) recorded a time of 1:32.37 more than 13-seconds ahead of their second-place Oneonta teammates.
The one-meter dive had an Oneonta top finisher when sophomore
Sean Coddington (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) took first with a score of 179.30. He repeated the win in the second of his one-meter dives with a recorded score of 259.70. Coddington's combined score of 439 hit the qualifying mark for the NCAA regional diving qualifier. Classmate
Colin Davis (Chester/Monroe-Woodbury) was second in the same event allowing the home team to finish out the day on a high note.
The men will now prepare for the SUNYAC championship that begins on Wednesday, Feb. 19th at Erie Community College in Buffalo.
