The SUNY Oneonta men's track & field team competed on Saturday at Ithaca College in a tri-meet with Brockport. The Red Dragons accumulated 23 points overall in the competition to finish third.

The Inside Story
Oneonta senior
Nicholas Grasso (Goshen/Burke Catholic) and junior
Nick Michalowski (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) came away with individual wins in the event to lead the performances. Grasso ran a season best time of 23.09 seconds in winning the 200-meter dash. Michalowski crossed the finish line in 8.53 seconds to win the 60-meter hurdles.

Second place finishes for Oneonta went to junior
Norberto Cervantes (Williamson/Williamson) and freshman
Brandon Martin (Syracuse/Central Square). Cervantes posted a mark of 16.32 meters in the weight throw while Martin recorded a personal best time of 4:28.43 in the mile.

The 4x400-meter relay turned in a second place finish in its initial race of the season. The foursome included Grasso, junior
Jared Stauss (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) and newcomers Tyler Lopresti and
Tyler Price (Stephentown/New Lebanon). The quartet ran a time of 3:35.06 in the event.

Stauss also turned in a fourth place finish in the long jump with a personal best distance of 6.12 meters (20'-1").

Rounding out the list of athletes that scored points in the meet with fourth place finishes were seniors
Sean Ryan (Bronxville/Bronxville) (mile) and
Isaiah Ruiz (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) (800), sophomore
Thaddeus Karaman (Sherburne/Sherburne-Earlville) (pole vault) and freshman Terrence Christian (60 meters).

What's Next
The Red Dragons will send athletes to compete at both Boston University and Cornell University next weekend.
