The SUNY Oneonta men's track & field team began the outdoor portion of its year yesterday at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational, which was a non-scoring meet.

The Inside Story
Oneonta recorded a pair of event wins, as senior
James Reilly (Sayville/Sayville) and junior
Ethan McDonald (Guilderland/Guilderland) captured their respective events. McDonald won the 1500-meter run with a facility and personal best time of 4:07.20. Reilly won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.62 finishing just ahead of teammate Nicholas Michalowski who crossed in 58.74.

Also, in the 1500, senior
Devin Akerley (Corinth/Corinth) finished second crossing the line in 4:07.90. Sophomore
Ryan O'Rourke (Boonville/Adirondack) and junior
Matthew Palmer (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) finished fourth and sixth respectively in the event.

Other top-5 finishes came from sophomore
Norberto Cervantes (Williamson/Williamson) and senior
Matthew Moran (Cornwall/Cornwall). Cervantes finished second in the hammer throw (49.13 meters) and fifth in the discus (43.50 meters) setting personal best marks in both events.

Moran recorded a personal best mark in the javelin coming in at 44.90 meters.

What's Next
The men will compete next weekend at both the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton and the Hamilton College Invitational.
