The SUNY Oneonta men's track & field team opened its 2019-20 season yesterday at Cornell University, as the Red Dragons participated in the annual Greg Page Relays.

The Inside Story
The Red Dragons brought many newcomers to join the veterans that competed in the sprints, throws and jumps.

The top performance in the sprints came from junior
Nicholas Grasso (Goshen/Burke Catholic), who posted a personal best time in the 300-meter dash. Grasso's time of 36.41 seconds was good enough to put him seventh overall. Grasso also competed in the 60-meter dash and finished 29
th overall with a time 7.44 seconds.

Newcomer
Tyler Price (New Lebanon), who is a multi-athlete, competed in the 60, 300 and high jump. He was the top Oneonta finisher in the 60 with a time of 7.33 seconds. He was 23
rd overall in the 300 crossing in 37.99 seconds. In the high jump, he cleared 1.85 meters (6'-0 ¾").

The throwers turned in some solid performances in their initial competition of the year.

Senior
Griffin Arcuri (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) was the top performer in the shot put, placing fifth overall with a personal best mark of 13.09 meters (42'11 ½").

Seniors
Thomas McNamee (Waterford/Shenendehowa) and
Zachary Peterson (Coxsackie/Coxsackie-Athens) and junior
Norberto Cervantes (Williamson/Williamson) all posted top-10 finishes in the weight throw. Cervantes was third overall (16.27m, 53'4 ½"), McNamee was sixth (14.34m, 47'0 ¾") and Peterson was tenth (13.13m, 43'1").

What's Next
The men will now have a month off before competing again on Sunday, Jan. 12
th at Shenandoah University in Virginia for a one-day invitational.
