Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field hockey earns playoff spot with crucial win over Brockport

A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team clinched a playoff spot with a crucial 2-0 victory over Brockport Saturday afternoon at All College Field. The win evens the Red Dragons record to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC.

The Inside Story
The Red Dragons jumped on the board 7:14 into the game when freshman Morgan Fleming (Harpursville/Harpursville) fed a cross to classmate Ally McCrudden (Red Hook/Red Hook) who was open on the backside for her third goal of the season. The scored stayed the same until the 51st minute when Fleming redirected a Sophia Little (Northport/Northport) corner strike for a 2-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles could only muster four shots during the game as goalie Kristy Campana (Melville/Walt Whitman) made one save for her second consecutive shutout.

Just the Stats
Oneonta outshot Brockport 22-4 for the game with a 20-3 advantage in penalty corners. Colleen Geyer (West Nyack/Clarkstown South) and Morgan Fleming (Harpursville/Harpursville) each had two shots on net apiece for the Red Dragons.

What's Next
The Red Dragons return to action on Wednesday, October 30th when they travel to New Paltz for a SUNYAC tilt with the Hawks at 3:30pm
