The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team fell to Kean University 2-1 in non-conference action Saturday evening. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 1-3.
After a scoreless first half, Kean scored just three minutes in when Jenna Patrone ripped a shot from just outside the Circle for the 1-0 lead in the 39
th minute. The Red Dragons tied the game at the 40:18 mark when
Cali Cortese (Yorktown Heights/Lakeland) put back a loose ball in front for her second goal of the season.
The Cougars got the game winner in the 54
th minute when Patrone deflected ball during a scrum in front of the cage.
Oneonta goalkeeper
Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) made six stops in the loss. The Cougars edged the Red Dragons on shots (17-8) and corners (13-4).
The Red Dragons will look to get back on track on Wednesday, September 12
th when they travel to Wells College for a 5 p.m. tilt against the Express.
