The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 2-0 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at All College Field. The loss drops Oneonta's record to 2-4 on the year.

The Griffins got on the board 3:43 into the game when Shannon Carroll snuck shot between the pads of Oneonta goalkeeper Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point).

Oneonta had their chances in the first half with six shots on net, but Gwynedd Mercy goalkeeper Abi Kennedy stood her ground. Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) led the Red Dragons with two shots on goal.

The Griffins added an insurance goal in the 53^rd minute when Kathryn Lehman put back a rebound in front to make the score 2-0.

Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) kept the Red Dragons in the game with nine saves, including two big saves early in second half to keep Oneonta within striking distance.

The Red Dragons return to action Wednesday evening when they host Misericordia at 6:00 p.m. on All College Field.
