Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Anson & Wells Lift Field Hockey To Seventh Straight Victory

The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team won their seventh straight game with a 4-1 victory over Houghton College on Tuesday evening at All College Field. The win lifts the Red Dragons record to 10-5 on the year.

Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) put Oneonta on the board just 2:50 into the game when she rebounded a cross off the goalkeeper for her 13th goal of the season.  Wells added to the lead in the 20th minute when she broke in alone, scoring in the lower right corner of the Houghton net. Alise Anson (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) gave Oneonta a 3-0 advantage when she redirected a Cali Cortese (Yorktown Heights/Lakeland) shot.

After Houghton got on the board in the 41st minute, The Red Dragons put the game out of reach in the 66th minute on Alise Anson's (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) second goal of the game.

The Red Dragons outshot Houghton 23-6 with a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.  Oneonta goalkeeper Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) earned her tenth win of the season after making four saves.

The Red Dragons return to action on Friday, October 19th when they host SUNY New Paltz in a pivotal SUNYAC battle at 5:00 p.m.
