The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team defeated SUNY Geneseo 2-1 in SUNYAC action Friday afternoon. The Red Dragons are now 8-5 overall and 4-0 in the SUNYAC.
After a scoreless first half, Oneonta got on the board in the 59
th minute when
Jenna Dangler (Nyack/Nyack) scored on a two-on-one break with
Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna). The Red Dragons added to their lead in the 64
th minute when
Carissa Warren (Harpursville/Harpursville) threaded a shot through a crowd in front for her sixth goal of the season.
Geneseo got a goal from Elisa Arcara in the 69
th minute on a pass from Jordan Penkitis.
Geneseo had plenty of chances in the game as the Knights outshot Oneonta 34-7. Oneonta goalkeeper
Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) made 13 saves to earn her eighth win of the season.
The Red Dragons return to action tomorrow afternoon when they battle Brockport at 1:00 p.m.
